REIKI COURSES – Usui Level 3
Every living organism is powered by a nonphysical, prevalent energy. We’ve known about this
energy for thousands of years and have tried to figure out how to use it to heal and influence our
lives. This energy is known as Ki in Japanese. The Chinese call it Chi, a number of Asian
cultures call it Prana, and the majority of the western world calls it the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost.
From the moment we are conceived, we carry this energy in and around our bodies. Science
has proven its existence, and we can now see this energy that encompasses all living things
thanks to Kirlian photography.
Reiki is a two-syllable Japanese word that translates to “universal life force.” Although the
correct Japanese pronunciation is RYE-KEY, it has been shortened to RAY-KEY in the West.
Rei is a Japanese word that means “universal” or “omnipresent” – “present everywhere at the
same time.” Rei, in esoteric terms, means spiritual consciousness, omniscient wisdom from God
or the higher self.
Ki is the nonphysical vitality that gives all living things life. Many cultures recognise the
significance of Ki energy and how it affects our lives and well-being.
Ki energy can be activated for healing purposes. When you are healthy and enthusiastic, the
flow of Ki energy in your body is strong and unimpeded. Life appears to be easier to deal with,
and you appear to be more resistant to illness and disease.

The Third Degree and Reiki Master are often used interchangeably in many courses. Some
teachers, however, distinguish between Level 3 and Reiki Master. The Reiki Master Level is
traditionally thought to be the teacher’s level, and masters can walk away and attune new reiki
practitioners. Many people receive the master attunement and the corresponding symbol, but
they are not comfortable or practiced in properly attuning others—hence the distinction between
Third Degree and Reiki Master.
Becoming a reiki master also represents a deep commitment to the reiki practise, and some
believe that a significant amount of time should elapse between Second Degree and Master
Level status.
